Card Check is a pre-grading triage tool. It photographs a trading card, measures its centering (the most objective factor professional graders score), and shows current market value — so you can decide whether a card is worth sending off for professional grading.
For the most accurate read, shoot the card flat, square, and filling the frame, with even light and no glare.
The centering result maps your card's border ratios to standard condition bands — Gem Mint (10), Mint (9), NM-MT (8), or below. Only centering is scored. The experimental edges, corners, and surface checks are informational and can lower a real grade but never raise it. Surface and corner wear aren't fully assessable from a phone photo, so treat the result as triage, not a guarantee.
Lighting, angle, and glossy holo surfaces can shift the detected border slightly. Re-scan with flatter, more even lighting, or use Crop Manually to set the corners yourself for a more consistent read.
Card Check reads the card name and number and looks them up in a public pricing database. Brand-new sets sometimes have no prices yet, and stylized full-art names can be hard to read automatically. If that happens, type the card name and number into the search box and tap search. Prices are estimates from third-party sources — not an appraisal.
No. Your photos are analyzed on your device and never uploaded. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your collection syncs between your devices through your own private iCloud — we can't read it. Card lookups send only the card's name and number to a pricing service — never anything that identifies you. See the privacy policy for full details.
